Helping the Community
We are the hands of Jesus in the world and those hands are busy. We support the community through our Soup Place, Pennies for Hartman Center, coke tabs for Ronald McDonald House, donations to Haven Ministries, Operation Christmas Child, Christmas Giving Tree, Blankets for Church World Service, Our Churchs Wider Mission, Neighbors in Need, Phoebe House (long term care facility), Bethany Childrens Home, and Lancaster Seminary.
Haven Ministry has an ongoing need for canned goods and non-perishable items. As you grocery shop each week remember those who have less. A basket is in the lobby for your contributions.
The residents always are very grateful for all we provide for them. Here is a list of what they are requesting:
Harvest Home Donation
This is a special Thanksgiving offering of food donations provided to Haven Ministries.
Shoe Box Ministry
Each fall, shoe boxes are collected, wrapped, and given to congregants to fill with all kinds of good stuff for kids. The boxes are then sent to children from economically challenged countries.
Fire Box Ministry
Donations to the Fire Boxes are given to the Red Cross to help fire victims. Please place your donations in the box in the Lobby. Here is a list of items you can donate to the church:
Gift Cards to Weis, Giant
Our Transportation Ministry assists those needing rides to worship. A request for a ride can be made by calling the church office at 570-286-2712.
Soup Place Ministry
Our Soup Place Ministry prepares and serves a nutritious meal once a week in our Fellowship Hall. Join us Thursdays from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. for a meal and to socialize with others.
Every other month, citizens with disabilities from the surrounding communities come with their helpers to be part of an evening of music and fellowship. Participants are handed a percussion instrument as they arrive in Fellowship Hall on a Thursday evening at 6 p.m. Moments of fun are intermingled with moments of prayer and praise. Following the music session, drinks and snacks are shared as these children of God, ranging in age from sixteen to seventy, experience the joys of friendship and community in a warm and welcoming setting.
